Frequently Asked Questions

I just got a new car. My permit is on my old car. Do I need to pay another registration fee?

No. As long as you have previously registered a vehicle, a new sticker can be issued to you.

I just received a parking violation that I think was given unfairly. What should I do?

You may submit an online appeal form.  Appeals must be filed within 10 calendar days of the violation. An appeals committee consisting of staff and student members will hear your appeal. A copy of the decision will be mailed to the email address you specify on your appeal form.

If I turn on my hazard lights, will I still receive a parking violation?

Yes. An inappropriately parked vehicle will receive a ticket with or without flashers.

If I leave a note on my vehicle explaining why I am parked in a particular location, will I still receive a parking violation?

Yes. An inappropriately parked vehicle will receive a ticket with or without a note. Parking enforcement and police officers do not recognize notes as valid parking permits. Please call Parking Services to request a Prior Arrangement or after hours call the Police Department.
